The Dorcas Project

The Dorcas Project is at the heart of our community outreach efforts. Named after the biblical figure known for her acts of kindness and charity, this initiative is dedicated to serving the vulnerable in Truro and Redruth. According to recent statistics on poverty in these areas:

Did you know?

Research by the Action for Children charity shows that child poverty in Camborne and Redruth in 2021/22 had reached 30.4% of all children living in the constituency, a staggering 5,099 children living in poverty. In Truro and Falmouth, 4,075 (26%) of children were living in poverty. Department for Work and Pensions figures show 20,392 children in Cornwall were living in relative poverty in the year ending April 2022. It meant 21.9% of children in the area were in a family whose income was below 60% of average household income and claimed child benefit and at least one other household benefit.

Despite these challenges, Women of Purpose International Ministries remains steadfast in our commitment to supporting our community. Through the Dorcas Project, we provide essential support to those in need through meal drives, clothing distributions, and provisions for NHS staff workers. Our goal is not only to meet immediate physical needs but also to offer hope and dignity to every individual we serve.

Making a difference

We organise weekly and monthly events to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community have access to nutritious meals and essential clothing items. By coming together as a community, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardship.

Thank you for your support in helping us extend a hand of compassion and care to those in need.
